Studies have shown, time and time again, that spending time in God’s creation is necessary for humans to thrive. As Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, puts it, “{The studies} point in one direction: Nature is not only nice to have, but it’s a have-to-have for physical health and cognitive functioning.”
Overview of High Peak Camp’s Facilities
In addition to our beautiful location adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, each of High Peak’s facilities and activities helps us carry out our mission and provide our guests with unique, unforgettable opportunities.
Cabins
During summer camp, campers will spend the majority of their time outdoors, but the time spent in the cabins is valuable because it allows campers to connect with a smaller group of their peers and to learn from and be mentored by the godly college students who serve as our cabin counselors.
Cabin devotions are a great time for campers to ask questions, hear their counselors’ stories, and learn about the Bible in a safe, supportive environment.
Because cell phones and other electronics are not allowed at camp, campers will have an easier time unplugging and focusing on developing friendships with those around them without the distractions of the outside world.
Recreational Facilities
- Mini Golf Course: Our mini golf course provides a fun activity for guests of all ages.
- Athletics: Our state-of-the-art astroturf soccer field, sand volleyball court, and basketball court are perfect for campers and guests who want to develop their athletic skills or enjoy a pick-up game.
- Disc Golf Course: Disc golf is a flying disc sport in which participants toss a disc toward a target while following golf-like regulations. Our disc golf course allows guests a great outlet for engaging in friendly competition, getting exercise, and having a great time with friends.
- Gaga Ball: Gaga ball is a fast-paced sport, similar to dodgeball, played in an octagonal pit.
Adventure Activities
- Zipline: Built in 2016, this thrilling activity provides participants with a beautiful view and an exciting ride.
- Climbing Tower: This forty-foot tower was constructed in 2012 and challenges climbers to overcome their fears and reach the top.
- Low Ropes: The elements of our low ropes course will challenge your group with problems and obstacles that require teamwork to accomplish.
- Target Sports: Test your aim by shooting BB guns at our gun range or trying to hit a bullseye at our archery range.
- Hiking: There are several beginner hiking trails on our property, and with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park, hikers who visit High Peak will never find themselves lacking when it comes to trails to explore.
Fishing at High Peak
Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park have some of the most pristine fly fishing in the country. There are over 265,000 acres of land to explore in the area, with a variety of lakes, streams, rivers, and ponds full of fish waiting to be caught.
Located just nine miles south of Estes Park, High Peak Camp is a gem for those looking for excellent fly fishing in the area. Our campus offers six trout ponds, where you can fish while enjoying the beautiful views of Mount Meeker, Longs Peak, Mount Lady Washington, Estes Cone, and Twin Sisters.
Gathering Spaces
- Worship Center: Our beautiful chapel is ideal for worship and also serves as a great meeting place for groups of various sizes.
- Outdoor Amphitheater: Our amphitheater is the home to weekly campfires during the summer, and those who gather there can enjoy the idyllic mountain scenery while singing campfire songs, roasting s’mores, and worshiping the Creator.
- Dining Hall: All meals are eaten in our spacious dining hall. By offering a variety of choices and providing healthy, quality food, we keep everyone happy. Retreat groups can choose from various meal options, ranging from casual to upscale.
- Mill Building: This two-story building is another indoor space available to rental groups and summer campers.
